Central Perimeter area marks 50 years of development

This year, leaders of Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCIDs) and the cities of the Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and Brookhaven at the “top end” of I-285 mark 50 years of commercial and economic development in the Central Perimeter business district. These entities put together a timeline of sorts to track construction of the Perimeter (I-285) itself, as well as landmark buildings including the Ravinia and State Farm campus, MARTA and other key corporate highlights. Throughout the past 50 years, the Central Perimeter area has been divided into “eras,” according to staff and board members of PCIDs, who presented their historic narrative to the Chronicle.
