Recession Warnings: Sluggish economy has Georgia looking to cut spending, raise revenues

Fewer than four months ago, Gov. Brian Kemp signed a record $27.5 billion state budget, rich enough for $3,000 pay raises for teachers and to fully cover Georgia’s kK12 student funding formula for the second straight year. Now Kemp has ordered the first budget cuts since the Great Recession.
